ANS's mom was a cop. They can be pretty strict parents. I get the sense that ANS was a rebel. Teenage pregnancy, drugs, sex trade related work. Everything her mother would have objected to.

Overly strict parents do sometimes lead to rebellious kids, but beyond that, I don't think you can blame them.
